Week 1 Stress Concentration on a Plate with hole
1).
In case1 the deformation and maximum equivalent stress are 0.00054991mm and 1.2092 MPa respectively.

In case2 the deformation and maximun equivalent stress are 0.00029732mm and 0.58114 MPa respectively.

After the analysis process the deformation in case1 is less when compared to case2. The theory behind this variation is due to stress distribution over the plates with one hole and 3 holes. In case2 the stress flow is minimum as the additional two holes acts as a stress reliver being placed parallel to the middle hole.
2).
From the analysis point of view I would select the design from case1. Even though the deformation in case2 is less when compared to case1 the stress for better operational purpose the case1 would be best. And depends on the customer requirement both are designs are taken into consideration and the final model will be released. If the two additional holes are drilled in perpendicular of the middle hole the stress distribution would me more.
3).
From a manufacturing standpoint I would suggest case1 design as it would withstand maximum stress when compared to case2. If more load is applied there are chances for much more deformation even the other two holes acts a stress relivers and also it is easy for manufacturer to do the production.
