Week 1 Stress Concentration on a Plate with hole

TOT DEFORMATION EQ STRESS MAX EQ STRESS MIN
CASE mm MPa MPa
1(1 hole) 0.00027494 0.60371 0.01082
2(3 hole) 0.00029731 0.58176 0.00152

It is observed that total deformation is larger in case 2 than case 1 but equivalent stress is maximum in case 1.The tensile yield strength of structural steel is 250MPa

--From analysis point of view its good to choose case 2(3 holes)

*Less Weight

*Less Equivalent stress

--From analysis point of view its good to choose case 1(1 holes)

*Less manufacturing process

*Not a high equivalent stress value as 250MPa is max tensile strength of structural steel

Report-It is observed that total deformation is larger in case 2 than case 1 but equivalent stress is maximum in case 1.The tensile yield strength of structural steel is 250MPa.It is recommended to use the type according to the process that it undergoes. If only 500 N is applied it would be good to use the first one as it will significantly low manufacturing value in a small scale production. But in large scale if this is specimen it can be rolled in the same shape as it will reduce the material cost. All depends on the requiremnt specimen accuracy.
