How does similarity is calculated if data is categorical in nature

If the data is categorical in nature, similarity is often calculated using a measure known as the Jaccard similarity coefficient. This coefficient measures the similarity between two sets of categorical data by dividing the number of elements that are common to both sets by the total number of elements in the sets. The resulting value ranges from 0 (no similarity) to 1 (complete similarity). Other measures, such as the Dice similarity coefficient or the Hamming distance, can also be used for categorical data depending on the context and specific requirements of the problem.
