Tool Test-2
INTAKE MANIFOLD VOLUME (3D) MESHING AND CLEAN UP COLLAPSED ELEMENTS
Objective:
To create Volume meshing on intake manifold as per the quality criteria and cleaning collapsed elements in the mesh by using ANSA
Quality Criteria:
- Target /Average length 3
- Minimum length 1
- Maximum length 5
- Tet-collapse 2
Methodology:
- Geometrical clean-up
- Volume Meshing as per the Quality criteria
- Cleaning collapsed elements.
Cad model before topology
After topology
Geometrical cleanup:
After geometric clean-up
Surface meshing algorithms using tria and ortho-tria element type meshing as per the mesh parameters given. Spot- mesh gives us fine mesh result and gives us optimum shell elements compare to other mesh.
Surface meshing
Define the solid mesh (unstructured) part by selecting the option AUTOSELECT, MANUAL.
Volume mesh →Define → Auto-select and Manual → Manual select
Select the tetra Rapid and tetra FEM in volume mesh to generate 3D mesh
Tetra Rapid mesh: The maximum growth rate, which is approximate growth factor of volume elements from layer to layer while the generation moves towards inside from surface.
Tetra FEM: It is defined from volume module.it creates tetrahedral mesh inside automatically when we selected it from the define command. It used for structural applications.
Outcomes:
- Volume mesh using tetrarapid and tetraFEM is done
- Difference between structured and unstructured mesh, cleaning collapsed elements.
Conclusion:
- Volume (3D) meshing for intake manifold and also cleaning the collapsed elements
- Understanding the difference between Structured and unstructured mesh
- Mesh clean-up has done using MV Free
