Sketch a G+1 residential plan according to Vaastu Shastra and Calculation of Loads as per IS code
Aim: To sketch a G+1 floor residential plan, according to Vaastu Shastra, and list down the names of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction.
Also, assume the sizes of the structural elements (Column, Beam, Slab, etc.,) and accordingly calculate the individual corresponding loads from the members as per IS code.
Introduction: Vastu Shastra is an ancient Indian science of architecture and design. It is based on the belief that the universe is governed by universal forces called prana. Prana flows through the human body and space, and it can affect a person's health, well-being, and success.
Procedure: G+1 floor plan is designed according to the following Vastu shastra :
- The main entrance: The main entrance is considered to be the most important part of the house, and it should be located in the east or north direction. This is said to bring good luck and prosperity to the home.
- The living room: The living room should be located in the southeast direction, and it should be a spacious and well-lit room. This is where the family gathers, so it is important that it be a comfortable and inviting space.
- The kitchen: The kitchen is considered to be the heart of the home, and it should be located in the southwest direction. This is said to be the most auspicious direction for the kitchen, as it is associated with the element of fire.
- The bedroom: The bedroom should be located in the north or east direction, and it should be a quiet and peaceful space. This is where people sleep and relax, so it is important that it be a calming and restful environment.
- The bathroom: The bathroom should be located in the northwest direction, and it should be a clean and well-ventilated space. This is where people cleanse themselves, so it is important that it be a hygienic and refreshing environment.
Result: THE G+1 PLAN IS ATTACHED IN PDF FORM, PLEASE FIND THE SAME.
The names of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction are :
- Layout center line drawing
- Foundation reinforcement drawing
- Column reinforcement drawing
- Floor plans
- Plinth beam reinforcement drawing
- Column reinforcement drawing
- Slab and slab beam reinforcement drawing
- Staircase reinforcement drawing.
Assuming data for load calculations:
a) Column size = (0.4x0.5x3.5)m
b) Beam size = (0.3x0.35x3)m
c) Slab size = (3x4x0.125)m
a) Load calculations for a column:
Dead load = Volume x Density
= 0.7 X 25
=17.5 KN
Since we plan for the residential building we take the live load as 2kN/m.
b) Beam size = (0.3x0.35x3)m
Dead load = Volume x Density
= 0.315 X 25
=7.875 KN
Since we plan for the residential building we take the live load as 2kN/m.
c) Slab size = (3x4x0.125)m
Dead load = Volume x Density
= 1.5 X 25
=37.5 KN
