Sketch a G+1 residential plan according to Vaastu Shastra and Calculation of Loads as per IS code

Aim and Introduction:

Sketch a G+1 floor residential plan, according to Vaastu Shastra, and list down the names of the structural drawings required to be provided to the site for construction.

Also, assume the sizes of the structural elements (Column, Beam, Slab, etc.,) and accordingly calculate the individual corresponding loads from the members as per IS code.

- All columns are 300mm x 300mm
- All beams are 300mm x 450mm
- Slab thickness if 125mm
- The height of the wall is 4.5m

Given data

column = .300 * .300

Beam = 300 * .450

slab = 125 mm

Height of the wall = 4.5 m

Assume thickness of outer wall = 230 mm

thickness of inner wall = 115 mm

Bath room = 3.5m * 5m

Master Bed room = 3.5m * 5m

Living room = 8m * 3m

kitchen = 3.5m * 4m

Dining = 3.5 * 4m

Guest bed room = 3m * 5m

Home theater room = 5m * 8m

Bar counter = 4m * 3.5m

Total number of columns is 16

Volume of the column = L * B * H

= .3 * 3 * 4.5

= .405 m^3

Total volume of the columns = 9 * .405

= 3.645 m^3

Dead load of the column = volume * unit weight

= 3.645 m^3* 2400 kg/m^3

= 8748 kg

= 85.73 KN

Assume thickness of the wall 230mm

Total length of the beam = 84 m

Area of the beam = D * B

= .3 * .45

= .135 m^2

Total volume of the beams = .135 * 84

= 11.34 m^3

Dead load of the beam = volume * unit weight

= 11.34 m^3 * 2400 kg/m^3

= 27216 kg

= 266.7168 KN

Volume of the Ground floor roof slab = L * B * H

= 14 * 9 * .125

= 15.75 m^3

volume of First floor roof sslab = 14 * 9 *.125

= 15.75 m^3

Total volume of the slab = 15.75 +15.75

= 31.5 m^3

Dead load of the slab = volume * unit weight

= 31.5 m^3 * 2400 kg/m^3

= 75600 kg

= 740.88 KN

Total length of the brick work is 190m

Area of the brick work = H * B

= 4.5 * .230

= 1.035 m^2

Dead load of the brick work = area * unit weight

= 1.035 * 2000

= 2070 kg/m

= 20.286 KN/M

LIve load is taken from IS875 - part 2

NOTE : if calculate the wind load the building height should be more than 10m . In this case dont consider wind load

RESULTS:

Dead load of the column = 85.73 KN

Dead load of the beam = 266.7168 KN

Dead load of the slab = 740.88 KN

Dead load of the brick work = 20.286 KN/M
