Vastu Shastra followed during planning is-

  • Entrance of the house is provided in the east direction which is the symbol of progress in life.
  • Living room is placed in north east direction.
  • Master bedroom is placed in south west position this direction brings good health and prosperity.
  • Kitchen is placed in south east direction.

Calculation of loads-

(A). Dead load Calculations

Unit Weight of Building Materials used in construction works as per IS 875 (Part-1)

Unit weight of RCC= 25KN/m3.

  1. Dead load of columns-

Dimension of column= 0.3m X 0.3m (300mm X 300mm)

Height of column/Floor = Wall height+max beam height-slab thickness = 3.0+1.0-.15 = 3.85 m

No. of Columns/Floor = 19 Columns

Volume of a column= 0.3 x 0.3 x 3.85 = 0.3465 m^3

Self weight of all Columns = Vol. of a Column x No. of columns/Floor x No. of Floors x Unit weight of RCC

Self weight of all Columns = 0.3465 x 19 x 2 x 25 = 329.175 KN

  1. Dead load of beams-

Pattern No. B h L Volume (m^3) RCC unit weight Self Weight KN
B1 1 0.3 1 8.6 2.58 25 64.5
B2 2 0.3 0.45 4.1 1.107 25 27.675
B2 1 0.3 0.45 4.2 0.567 25 14.175
B2 1 0.3 0.45 4.2 0.567 25 14.175
B2 6 0.3 0.45 2.9 2.349 25 58.725
B2 4 0.3 0.45 2.3 1.242 25 31.05
B2 2 0.3 0.45 1.7 0.459 25 11.475
B2 1 0.3 0.45 1.9 0.2565 25 6.4125
B2 1 0.3 0.45 2 0.27 25 6.75
B2 1 0.3 0.45 3.8 0.513 25 12.825
B2 1 0.3 0.45 3.6 0.486 25 12.15
B3 3 0.3 0.6 5.5 2.97 25 74.25
B3 1 0.3 0.6 1.9 0.342 25 8.55
B3 1 0.3 0.6 6 1.08 25 27
B3 1 0.3 0.6 3.5 0.63 25 15.75
B3 1 0.3 0.6 4.1 0.738 25 18.45
B3 1 0.3 0.6 2.8 0.504 25 12.6
B3 1 0.3 0.6 3.5 0.63 25 15.75
B3 1 0.3 0.6 2.9 0.522 25 13.05
Total 17.8125 445.3125

DL of beams/ Floor = 445.3125 KN

Total DL of beams = 445.3125 x 2 = 890. 625 KN.

  1. Dead load of slab-

Density of RCC= 25KN/m3.

Area of Slab = 9 * 18 = 161 m^2

Self-weight of slab/Floor= 161 X 0.15 X 25= 603.75 KN.

Total Self-weight of slab = 603.75 x 2 = 1,207.5 KN.

  1. Dead load of walls

-Dead load of external wall

Thickness of External wall = 0.23m. (230mm)

Unit weight of brick wall= 20KN/m3

Unit Weight of Building Materials used in construction works as per IS 875 (Part-1)

Height of wall = 3m.

Load of wall/m'= 3 X 0.23 X 20= 13.8KN/m'.

-Dead load of internal wall

Thickness of Internal wall = 0.15m. (150mm)

Unit weight of brick wall= 20KN/m3

Unit Weight of Building Materials used in construction works as per IS 875 (Part-1)

Height of wall = 3m.

Load of wall/m'= 3 X 0.15 X 20= 9KN/m'.

(B). Live load calculations-

(According to IS 875 Part 2)

Bed room= 2KN/m2

Living room= 2KN/m2

Terrace = 3KN/m2

Toilet= 2KN/m2

Staircase= 3KN/m2

Study room= 2KN/m2

Kitchen= 2KN/m2

(C). Wind load calculation-

Consider my structure is in the green area

Vb= 47 m/s

K1 = 0.71 , K2 = 1, K3 = 1.1 , K4 = 1

Vz= Vb * k1 * k2* K3 * K4= 47 * 0.71 * 1* 1.1*1= 36.71 m/s

Pz=0.6 Vz^2 = 0.6 * 36.71 ^2 = 825.85 N/m^2

References and IS codes used for the design-

IS 875:1987, Part 1 for Dead load

IS 875:1987, Part 2 for Live load

IS 875:1987, Part 3 for Wind load

IS 456:2000, for Reinforced Concrete.

Results-

-The plan is prepared by the Vaastu shastra concept considering all the principles and considerations of Vaastu shastra

- Structural dimensions had been assumed.

-The load calculations are done as per the IS code considerations.
