Section Modulus calculation and optimization

Section Modulus:

              It is a geometric property for a given cross section used in the design of beams or flexual members.It is used to measure the strength of the design.

         Z=I/Y it is the calculation analyse of the strength where,

 Z=section modulus

 I=moment of inertia of the beam

 Y=neutral axis to the design to the end of distance

The unit of the section modulus cubic inches

    Section modulus is defined as the ratio of polar moment of inertia to the radius of the shaft or design from the neutral axis to the outer most of thedistance.

     It is also defined as the first moment of area.

section modulus 1:

           S1= I1/y

          S1=2.743*10*5/439.0829

          S=624.7111mm3

Section Modulus 2:

          S2=I2/y

          S2=3.414*10*5/439.0829

          S2=777.5297mm3

Therefore,

     S=S2-S1

     S=777.5297-624.7111

     S=152.8186mm3
