Radar Mast & Final Assembly of Yacht

Title of the project- Yacht assembly and radar mast

objective- to make use of advanced solidworks features and to learn solidworks through working with the project. In this project multiple complicated looking parts were made and assembled.

other parts:

1. propeller

features used- revolved boss/base was used to make the cylindrical-conical propeller tube. Loft boss/base was used to make the wings of the propeller and circular pattern was used to replicate those wings. cut extrude was used to make the cylindrical way for propeller to attach to hull. Fillets are used at all sharp edges and wings.

2. Radar

feature used- boss extrude was used to make the cross sectional geometry. Split line feature was used for creating text on the part. Fillets are used at all sharp edges and corners.

3. Hull

features used- using blueprint as reference, multiple surfaces were created with the help of projected curves. Surface loft, surface sweep, fill surface, surface extrude were used to create surfaces and surface trim was also extensively used. Surface knit was used to remove gaps between surfaces and to combine surfaces. The structures for joining propeller at the end was made using revolved boss base. All the railing were made using sweep boss. Cut extrude was used in creating windows and other depressions. Half of the hull was created and then mirrored about mid plane. decals were later used to give hull surface a teak wooden appearance.

4. Garage door

feature used- cut extrudes were used to make this part after it was cut from the hull part. Shell feature was also used on two faces to remove their surfaces and give remaining part shell thickness. cut extrude was used to create text in the part.

5. Front seat

features used- Surface sweep, surface extrude, surface fill, surface loft, surface trim were used for creating side of seats. revolved boss, cut extrude and cut extrude thin was used to make seat and to separate them from the bigger part. Dome was also used. Fillets were used to smoothen all the edges.

6. Middle seat

features used- Boss extrudes and chamfers were used to make these seats. For making the table, four boss extrudes were used. Fillets were used in all the sharp corners.

7. Rear sseat

features used- surface sweep, surface loft, surface offset, surface extend, surface trim, surafce knit were used in making these seats. cut extrudes were used to make the impressing of shelves. Boss extrude was used to create door knob and hinges. flagpole was made using revolved boss at flag was made using surface fill feature.

8. Superstructure

features used- Surface sweep, surface fill, ruled surface, surface loft, surface extrude, surface extend, surface trim, surface knit were used in make the surface of this part. Multiple projected curves(obtained by using blueprint) were used in making surfaces. multiple cut extrudes were used in making divisions like the one just in front of the front windshield. wipers were made by boss extrude. The half of the part was made and it was mirrored about mid plane. windows and doors were made by cut extrude feature.

9. American chopper bike

This bike model is just used in this Yact model for appearances and keeping the garage. This is already explained in a separate project.

conclusion- The Yacht model parts and assembly was successfully made and rendered images were also obtained. Multiple new tools, features, and working with blueprint was learned in this project.
