Project 2 - Supply and Demand Gap Analysis
In this project, I had taken the data from the KAGGLE website. The data is basically based on Uber rides in the year 2016.
The aim of this project is to analyze the demand and supply gap.
Here, from the dataset, we can get information about the category, purpose, start point, stop point, start date, end date, and total miles covered by the riders.
The problem statement could be that
- what are the areas where Uber can appoint their cabs for much more efficient profit
- what are the places where people take more rides
- How can a company increase the number of riders and much more?
Methodology
Tools that are used in this project are:
- Column chart
- Cards
- Table
- Matrix
- Donut chart
- Slicers
- Maps
- Stacked area chart
These tools are used in POWER BI, hence this project analysis is also done on the POWER BI desktop.
Analysis
Through these analyses, one can get much information.
Some of them are listed below:
- The sum of total miles covered in the 2016 year is 24.41k miles
- People taking rides are counted as 1078 in the category of business whereas 77 in the category of personal.
- The count of rides had been analyzed for each city for example:
NEW YORK CITY: count of rides-4
- The sum of miles had been analyzed according to the start date and end date
- Count of riders for what purpose they had chosen the cabs, like for meeting purpose people had chosen the maximum numbers of rides.
Recommendations
- People had chosen business over personal for this, would be recommended that the personal rate should also get high.
- The cities where large numbers of rides are taken should provide more drivers and rides so that people can easily put this choice first.
- Should look at the lowest number of rides in the cities and should improve that area.
- Should take a target to improve the number of rides in the incoming years.
- Should lower the fare prices for cab services where people are taking fewer rides.
Conclusion
- In the year 2016, people had taken many rides mostly in commercial areas or entertainment places.
- The total miles that had been covered by Uber drivers are 24.41k miles
- People taking rides are counted as 1078 in the category of business whereas 77 in the category of personal.
