Project 2
Aim:- To analysis the given bridge model by various load applications.
Explaination:-Analysis the bridge is not an easy task, many loads are applied to it and to find out the most critical one which creates the kind of distress in the structural and nonstructural members of the bridge is to be found out, In this analysis water current forces, centrifugal forces, wave forces, snow loads, temperature loads, Barge Impact load will be calculated as according to the specification and will be applied on the bride and most critical one will be found out and results will be framed accordingly.
Load calculation:-
- Water current forces
Span if the bridge:- 40m
Mean sea velocity:- 2.5m/s
Maximum velocity can be calculated as = Vmax= √2*Vmean=√2*2.5
Vmax=3.54m/s
Water current= 52*k*Vmax^2=52*1.5*3.54*2.5*2.5
Water current=276.12 kN/m^2
- Centrifugal forces
Span= 40m
Width= 10.5m
Class 70R loading, Design speed 50km/hr, Radius of curvature is 2m.
C= WV^2/127R= (70*50*50)/127*2
C=688.97kN
- Wave forces
Ah= 1.5*10=15m^2
Av= 9*0.8= 7.2m^2
γ=5kN/m^3
δZh=2.2m
δZv=1.4m
Cva=3
Cr=0.4
Fv*=γ*δZv*Av=50.4kN
Fvmax= 3*50.4= 151.2kN------------------------------(A)
Fh*=γ*δZh*Ah= 165
Fhmax=[1+Cr(N-1)]Cva*Fh*= [1+0.4(3-1)]3*165= 1089kN--------------------------(B)
- Brage impact load calculation,
Dead weight:- 25000 DWT
Each container is standard:- 6.1 TEU
Speed = 2.5 m/s
KE= 500*Ch*W*V^2
KE= 500*1.25*25000*2.5*2.5= 9.8*10^7 N-m
Brage Depth:-
aB= 3100{((1+1.3*10^-7*KE)^0.5)-1}= 3100{((1+1.3*10^-7*9.8*10^7)^0.5)-1}= 8391 mm
aB > 100 mm, so
Pb = 6*10^6+1600(8391)= 1.94*10^4kN
- Snow load
Span:- 40 m
β< 30
Depth of snow = 1250 mm
Density of dry snow= 2kN/m3
snow load= 2*1.25*10= 25kN/m
Design snow load = 0.8*25 = 20 kN/m
