Challenge

Project 1

This problem is divided into 3 parts.

Solution to this project attached below.

  • First we need to find the total loads acting on the beam, then we need to check if the beam is loading from one way or two way slab. Then using that load conditions. Which is 42.375knm acting on entire beam, we need to use slope and deflection method.
  • First we need to find fixed end moment, which is +-286.03knm for respectively for each span.
  • Using this we need to find span end moment and then establish the equilibrium equation. Here there are five unknown, ta, tb, tc, td and te.
  • Now after that substituting this in we get moment at span Ab, bc,cd, and de.
  • Then we need to analyze individual members to get respective reaction at A B C D AND E.
  • Then using that we can draw shear force and bmd diagrams.

PART 2 OF THE PROBLEM IS TO SOLVE THIS USING LOAD PATERNNING.

  • In load paternning if we need to find Max reaction at span AB we need to load that with live load and the alternate span for example CD.
  • Other spans will only have dead load
  • Live load = 15kn/m
  • Dead load = 27.375kn/m
  • Total load will be = 42.375kn/m
  • Span AB and CD Will have total load i.e 42.375kn/m and span BC and DE will have dead load only i.e 27.375kn/m
  • After that the same procedure like above is need to be followed.
  • Now if we need to find max reaction at BC, we need to load BC and DE with dead+live load and AB and CD With dead load only.
