Midsurfacing and meshing of Dash Board Part using ANSA
Midsurfacing and meshing of Dash Board Part using ANSA
Aim:
- Geometry cleanup
- Midsurfacing
- Meshing
- Improving the quality and mesh flow
Procedure:
1.The required geometry is imported into yhe preprocessor as a .IGS file. Geometry checks are done and proper cleanup is done. All the curved faces are checked to remove any discrepancies which might have occured due to auto fix in the geometry cleanup section.
2. All the sides are measured so that offset midsurfacing can be done manually. Manual midsurfacing is done so that all the complex geometry can be obtained without any errors. The complicated geometries as shown below are midsurfaced by creating crossing plane surfaces.
Capturing the geometry as shown above can help in eliminating unwanted geometrical errors and the future analysis can be done smoothly.
The below geometries are also captured smoothly as shown
All the unjoined surfaces are extended till the main surface. They will create a triple con as shown.
The entire midsurface is as shown below.
3. Set respective PID depending on the thickness of each part.
4.Set the mesh parameter and quality parameters. Meshing is done using the BEST meshing method.
The meshing has been obtained with good quality. The total tria elements are only 5.5% and the off elements are restricted to minimum so that good quality mesh is obtained.
Learning Outcome:
1. Geometry check and proper cleaning of geometry
2. Midsurfacing and creating new faces where the mid surface was not created
3. Meshing the complex geometry as per quality criteria
Conclusion:
The complex dash board geometry with all the fins are midsurfaced and meshed with good quality with a tria percentage of 5.5%.
