Pre-processing using ANSA - manual mid surfacing

Objective:

To create mid surface mesh for the component shown below without using auto midsurface extraction tool in ANSA and assign the appropriate thickness using properties.

Step-1: geometry clean up

needle faces, single cons, triple cons, collapsed cons are cleared using autofix in geometry checks dialog box.

Step-2:Orientation

Step-3: set the quality criteria as given

step-4: extract midsurface

1. mid surface is extracted usign middle option for all the features

2.then mid surface is extracted for the main geometry.

to extract mid surface middle curve is extracted in cross section and then surfqace-> revolute option is usde to create the mid-surface. This method is preferred because we dont have a perfect surface(as shown) due to presence of stiffeners and othe features.

3. then the features are extended to meet with the main geometry midsurface as shown

Step-5 : meshing

Step-6: properties are created with the thickness required

Step-7: assigning Property to surfaces using set PID
