Project

performation of planar machining operation in explicit dynamics and carry out the results of stress and deformation

Objective:- In this challenge we have to perform a dynamic simulation in Explicit dynamics , Here we have to simulate a machining operation , (Tool is feed into th direction of workpiece and the material removal will takes place) , Here We have to perform this simulation for two tool velocities i.e, 20000mm/sec and another is 15000mm/sec.

Set-up and pre-processing configurations are given by:-

Explicit dynamic is dragged over a working window, and in the engineering material section the material (steel1006 ) was selected and imported in the local library,Then the model was imported in the spaceclim so that the extension of space claim was copied by the parasolid file.

After the material selection and gemoetry importing the model is preprocessed in the mechanical model, the geomery was renamed and the material was assigned to the solid bodies also the the tool is considered as rigid body.

The default contact was deleted and only the frictionless body interaction was set.

Then comes the meshing part.the tool is considered to have tetrahedral mesh, and the workpiece is meshed using cell division method.

then the analysis setting is given by:-

boundary conditions:- fixed support and velocity was given.

In this way all the pre-processing setting was set for both the analysis, but in the second case the velocity was set as 15000mm/sec ,

Rsults:-

case 1 (The velocity of tool is 20000mm/sec)

Stress generation Directional deformation Plastic Strain Temperature.

492.65 mpa 23.706 mm 1.852 376.95 degree celcious

stress graph Deformation Graph

Temperature graph Energy conservation

case 2 (The velocity of tool is 15000mm/sec)

Stress generation Directional deformation Plastic Strain Temperature.

634.29 mpa 20.284 mm 1.856 363.51 degree celcious

stress graph directional deformation graph

temperature graph

All the results are calculated and the relations analysis parameters are attched to verify the results consistency, such as energy conservation and energy summay,

The enrgies graph is showing the internal , kinetic and ,potential energy variation within the model, also this represents hourglassing in the simulation while the distribution is carried out,
