meshing cylindrical model

AIM : advanced cfd meshing the cylindrical model using the tools in the ansa.

OBJECTIVE :

  • taking up the file of the cylindrical model and load that in ansa.

  • get geometry check and set pids.
  • set the parameters by giving the length and then meshing.

THEORY AND STEPS :

ANSA is an advanced multidisciplinary CAE pre-processing tool that provides all the necessary functionality for full-model build up, from CAD data to ready-to-run solver input file, in a single integrated environment.

the following steps are taken for the meshing of the cylindrical model are :

  • loading the \'cylinder mesh\' file that is provided for the meshing in the \'ansa\'

  • when we open the file in ansa it will show up the model in \'wireframe mode\' and it helps us to get highlighted corners and lines , when it goes to shadow mode.

  • we have to changed the model from \'wireframe mode\' to the \'shadow mode\' for the further procedure.

  • we have to set the \'PID\' for the given model for that we changed the mode from \'entity\' to \'property mode\' from visibility icons bar by selecting \'PID\'.
  • before proceeding further we have to make a geometry check of the solid model in that we check for \'cracks\' , \'overlaps\' in the following structure . in this if status is checked then we proceed further.

  • now we set \'PID\' for the following model by selecting part , shells and for better selecting we enable \'cross hatches\' tool and after setting the \'PID\' for the following model, we can see in the \'property tool\'

    and the model looks like

  • now we can further move for meshing, to do that we have to select \'MESH\' module from \'utility window module\'.

  • in the meshing you either work on with \'edges\' or with the \'nodes\', in these model we going with the nodes.
  • select \'length\' from the \'parameters options\' and select the part or body which you want to be meshed and then set the length value.so, that it give the nodes difference of that particular length you given.in these case we are giving 1 unit as a length.
  • for the check distance between the nodes are correct or not as per your input we have to go through with the \'measure tool\' from \'utility window\'.

  • in measuring tool you have to select the nodes to check the distance between them and proceed to check

  • after that if the distance is correct as per your input then proceed for the \'meshing\' for that, we select \'spot mesh\' tool from the \'mesh generation\' option. if the option doesnt show click on the arrow button side with mesh generation to see the more option in that you will find the spot mesh.

  • after that you have to select the part or body which you want to mesh and select the method from \'option list\' and after that you have to click the middle button in the mouse so that the mesh is created.

  • now we have to check the body with \'surface mesh checks\' from checks manager . so that we know the meshing is perfectly done.

RESULT :
the given cylindrical model is perfectly meshed without any error and finally we show up with the details as you can see above.
