Project

cylinder model meshing using ANSA

Meshing a Cylinder:

  • Objective :

To mesh the cylinder model with the element size of 1 units.

  • CYLINDER MODEL IMAGE IN PID MODE WITHOUT YELLOW COONS:

  • CLASSIFICATIONS OF COONS:
  1. Red color coons - Single Edge
  2. yellow color coons - double Edge
  3. cyan color coons - triple Edge
  • CYLINDER MODEL IMAGE IN PID MODE WITH YELLOW COONS

To enable the yellow coons , We have to click quality criteria - presentation parameters - select the check box of Draw Cons in PID ,MID node like in ENT mode , then click Apply and OK.

  • Geometry check has done:

To analyse the geometry errors, we select checks - geometry check in the CHECKS Manager as shown in the figure :

  • Name selection for the cylinder model:

Before assigning the propert ID selection i enable the cross_hatches icon which allow us to select the faces in the cylinder model to name such inlet, outlet and wall, as shown in the figure.

To make selection select TOPO MODULE and under the Faces - click set PID option.

MESHING THE CYLINDER MODEL:

To mesh the cylinder we select the MESH in the module button and to divide the geometry into number of element i select the perimeter length option and set the perimeter lenght value as 1 units and measure the distance between the nodes as shown in the figure below:

For surface Meshing i use Mesh generation - spot mesh - element type -tria elements as shown in the figure below.

spot mesh algorithm gives better result than the free meshig method and creates the optimum number of detailed shell elements.

CHECKING THE MESH:

I select the Checks manager - surface mesh checks and click the execute option. After execution i found no errors as shown in the figure below:

Conclusion:

The cylinder model is meshed as per the given requirements given and i set all the necessary property ID and execute with no error in the surface meshing of the cylinder model geometry with element size of 1 units.
