AIM: To sketch the layout of a residence as shown in the figure above in Autocad.
INTRODUCTION:
The desired plan is created in Autocad using primarily the construction line tool.The procedure at drawing is explained in details with diagram of each step and the final result is given.
PROCEDURE:
STEP-1
- 01 Go to Start menu select Autocad 2022
- 02 In the command line type in.STARTUP - Enter
- 03 Enter new value of Startup:1
- 04 Go to Application Menu & select New
- 05 In the create new drawing dialog box. we do the advanced setup & select the enginering unit of measurment & select precision as 0'-0.0".
- 06 Set the limits by entering LIMITS in the command ta.The lower-left corner is specified as 0'0.0",0'0.0" and the upper-right corner is specified as 100',100'.
- 07 Enter units command in the command tab.
- 08 In the Drawing unit dialog box,select engineering in Type 0'-0.0" in precision, & Inches in insertion scale
- 09 click on OK
STEP-2
- 01 Click on Layer properties in the layer panel.
- 02 Click on NEW LAYER to create the following layers - DOORS,EXTERNAL WALL,INTERNAL WALL,WINDOW,STARIS,KITCHEN,SLAB,CUPBOARD,DIMENSION & TEXT.
- 03 Specify diffrent colors for the diffrent layers & then close the layer properties manager dialog box.
STEP-3
- 01 To begin drawing,select the ext wall layer as the default layer in the layer panel
- 02 Select the construction line tool by entering XLINE command in the command tab
- 03 Draw two lines, One verticle & horizantal, both intersecting at a point.
- 04 Select the offset tool by entering OFFSET command
- 05 Next select the Trim tool by using TR command in the command tab & Enter select the unwanted lines & enter.
STEP-4
- 01 Select the offset tool & as thickness of EXTERNALL WALL IS 9.0" as offset distance in the command line.
- 02 Select both the vertical & horizontal lines of the drawing.
- 03 Specify the next point of desired side to offset.
- 04 The VERTICAL OUTER LINE is offsetted toa distance of 25', which is then offsetted to a distance of 9" thickness of the wall.
- 05 The HORIZONTAL OUTER LINE is offsetted toa distance of 43'6.5" which is then offsetted to a distance of 9" thickness of the wall.
- 06 The unwanted lines are Trimmed off using the TRIM command.
- STEP-5
- 01 Next offset command is repeated to create all other external walls according to the dimensions given in the plan.
- 02 For Stair case drawing, select the stairs layer as the default layer in the layer panel.
- 03 Draw line of length 6' @ a distance of 2'9" from the bottom left inner corner of the plan.
- 04 Select the offset tool by entering offset command in the command tab.
- 05 specify offset distance of 1', then click on the desired side.
- 06 Next keep selecting & offsetting the lines for 8 more times to form the stairs.
- 07 The unwanted lines are Trimmed off using the TRIM command.
- 08 Repeath the same procedure for DOORS,KITCHEN SLAB,CUPBOARDS,DIMENSION & TEXT as per the dimension given in the plan.

02 SEATING PLAN FOR AN OUTDOOR CANOPY:
AIM: To sketch the seating plan for an outdoor canopy as shown in the figure in Autocad.
INTRODUCTION:
The desired plan is created in AutoCad using primarily the lines,circle & Arc tools.The procedure of drawing is explained in detail with diagrams of each step & the final result is given.The dimensions are considered in mm.
PROCEDURE:
STEP-1
- 01 Go to Start menu select Autocad 2022
- 02 In the command line type in.STARTUP - Enter
- 03 Enter new value of Startup:1
- 04 Go to Application Menu & select New
- 05 In the create new drawing dialog box. we do the advanced setup & select the Decimal unit of measurment & select precision as 0
- 06 Set the limits by entering LIMITS in the command ta.The lower-left corner is specified as 0,0 and the upper-right corner is specified as 5000,5000.
- 07 Enter units command in the command tab.
- 08 In the Drawing unit dialog box,select decimal in Type '0' in precision, & Millimeters in insertion scale
- 09 click on OK
STEP-2
- 01 Click on the the Circle tool in the Ribbon.
- 02 Select the Centre,Radius option from the drop down list.
- 03 Specify the centre point of circle as 0,0 in the command line.
- 04 Specify Radius of circle as 452.
- 05 Again, click on the circle tool in the Ribbon.
- 06 Select the Centre,Radius option from the drop down list.
- 07 Specify the centre point of circle as 0,0 in the command line.
- 08 Specify Radius of circle as 1398.
- 09 Select the Line tool.
- 10 Draw one horizontal line & one vertical line to divide the circles into four equal parts.
STEP-3
- 01 To draw the chair,First select the Rectangle tool by entering RECTANG command in the command tab.
- 02 Specify the first point of the rectangle.
- 03 Select Dimensions option in the command line.
- 04 Specify length of rectangle as 350 in the command line.
- 05 Specify width of rectangle as 150 in the command line.
- 06 Move the cursor towards the upward & click enter.
- 07 Select the Fillet tool, by entering F in the command tab.
- 08 Select the Radius option in the command line, & specify a radius of 50
- 09 Select the lines to fillet the bottom two corners of the rectangle.
- 10 Click on the Arc tool in the ribbon & select the Strart,End,Angle option from the drop down list.
- 11 Draw an arc by specifying the Start & End of the arc as the top corners of the rectangle created previously & specify the angle as 90
- 12 Select the offset tool by entering OFFSET command in the command tab.
- 13 Specify an offset distance of 50.
- 14 Select the arc created earlier,and then click on the outside of the arc & repeat again to create the chair handel.
- 15 Select the line tool & draw lines to close the ends of the arcs.
- 16 To draw the chair arms select the Rectangle tool & draw rectangle tool & draw rectangles of length 20 & width 50 at the location of the arm rests.
STEP-4
- 01 Select the chair created in step 3 & Move it to the desired location outside to the edge of the circleof radius 452.
- 02 Click on the Array tool in the Modify panel,then delect the polar array option.
- 03 Select the chair created as the object to be copied & Press enter.
- 04 Specify the base point as the centre of the circles.
- 05 Select the items option in the command line.
- 06 Specify the number of items as 4, & press enter.
STEP-5
- 01 Enter DIMSTY command in the command tab to open the dimension style manager dialog box.
- 02 Click on the Modify tab.
- 03 Under the lines option change the colour of the dimension & extension lines.
- 04 Under the symbols & Arrow option change the Arrow size to 100.
- 05 Under the text option change the Text height to 100.
- 06 Click ok. Then click on set current & close the dialog box.
- 07 Select the dimension tool by entering DIMRAD in the command line.
- 08 Select the object to be measured, then drag the dimension line to the desired location.Reapeat for all the objects to be measured.
- 09 Enter Text command in the command line.
- 10 Specify the start point of text as required.
- 11 Specify height of text as 100.
- 12 Specify angle of rotation of text as 0.00.
- 13 Enter the name of the drawing.

03 PART PLAN FOR THE TOILETS & UTILITIES ROOM:
AIM: To sketch the part plan for the toiler & utilities room as shown in the figure above in AutoCad.
INTRODUCTION:
The desired plan is created in AutoCad Using primarily the construction line.Circle & Arc tools. The procedure of drawing is explained in detail with diagrams of each step & the final result is given .The outer wall thickness is considered as 300mm & inner wall thickness is considered as 150mm. Also ,all the dimensions are in mm.
PROCEDURE:
STEP-1
- 01 Go to Start menu select Autocad 2022
- 02 In the command line type in.STARTUP - Enter
- 03 Enter new value of Startup:1
- 04 Go to Application Menu & select New
- 05 In the create new drawing dialog box. we do the advanced setup & select the Decimal unit of measurment & select precision as 0.
- 06 Set the limits by entering LIMITS in the command ta.The lower-left corner is specified as 0,0and the upper-right corner is specified as 2500,2500.
- 07 Enter units command in the command tab.
