Challenge 2- Comparing the performance of three types of beams under bending load.
AIM
Compare 3 types of beams under bending load with one side fixed
INTRODUCTION
Different types of cross section behave differently when used as fixed faces in a cantelever beam. We are doing this simulation study to observe how 3 different types- Rectangular, I-beam and C-beam behave under the same load. Dimensions are as per problem statement.
LOAD CASE SETUP
Rectangle :

I-Beam :

C-Beam :

Load applied is 1000 N in all cases.
Mesh refinement is also same in all cases.
And for visual purposes, I have kept the deformation scale equal in all 3 simulation results below.
RESULTS
Comparing Stress values :

OBSERVATION
We can clearly see stress-strain values and deformation is least for the normal rectangular beam and highest for C-beam. But in practice, I-beams are ideal because they use less material and the values are still under the yield strength of the material used.
