Basics of Probability and Statistics Week 1 Challenge
1)When we calculate population variance, we divide by N (the population size). When we calculate sample variance, we divide by n-1 (the sample size – 1)You should calculate the sample variance when the dataset you’re working with represents a a sample taken from a larger population of interest. You should calculate the Population Variance when the dataset you’re working with represents an entire population, i.e. every value that you’re interested in.
2)The key distinction between cluster sampling and stratified sampling is that in cluster sampling, only a sample of subpopulations (clusters) is chosen, where as in stratified sampling, all the subpopulations (strata) are selected for further sampling.
3)population size:N ,Sample size:n (NCn)
4) Total jacks are 4, total cards are 52 nedd to draw 2 jacks i.e 1/26
5)1/6
6) A variance is used to measure how far the data values are dispersed from the mean, and the standard deviation is the used to calculate the amount of dispersion of the given data set values.
