Challenge

Assignment 5-RADIOSS Interfaces & Study of Effect of Notches Challenge

Objectives:

To Create the mesh for bumper assembly, mesh size should be 6mm.

To Run the crash tube model as it is.

To Change the Inacti=6 and run.

To Create the type 11 contact and run.

To Remove both notches and remove boundary condition on rigid body node then run.

To Create a new notch in the middle, select the whole section and run.

To Create a new notch with nodes only from opposing 2 faces and run.

Execution procedure:

  1. Set the mesh size to 6 in 2D->automesh.
  2. Perform geometric cleanup remove unnecessary free edges.
  3. Mesh all the components using automesh and check for the mesh connectivity.

Observations and results:

Case 1- Run the crash tube model as it is.

observations:

1. Rigid wall forces plot is different than other cases in case-4.

2. Rigid body TH Rbody FZ-Z forces plot is also different in case-4 than others.
