Modeling of Yacht
Introduction
SolidWorks is a solid modeling Computer Aided Design (CAD) and computer aided engineering(CAE). SolidWorks is published by Dassault Systemes. Building a model in SolidWorks usually starts with a 2D sketch. The sketch comprises geometry such as points, lines, arcs, conics (except the hyperbola), and splines. We add dimensions to the sketch to define the size and location of the geometry. We use relations to define attributes such as tangency, parallelism, perpendicularity, and concentricity. The parametric nature of SolidWorks means that the dimensions and relations drive the geometry, not the other way around. The dimensions in the sketch can be controlled independently, or by relationships to other parameters inside or outside of the sketch.
Objective
The aim of modeling of Yacht is to master the solidworks interface and utilization of the tools and features effectively.
The modeling of Yacht comprise parts like
1. Hull
2. Garage door
3. Propeller
4. Radar
5. Front seat
6. Middle seat
7. Rear seat
8. Superstructure
9. Radar mast
Modeling of each of the parts
Hull
Hull is a basic structure of a yacht similar to the chassis of an automobile that houses all the parts together.
The hull comprises a curvature structure where the modeling is difficult using standard features, so producing surfaces and finally knitting them together to produce a solid structure. We develop surfaces using composite curves.
Below is the final CAD image of the Hull.
Final rendering looks like
Garage Door
The garage door is used to access the garage space in a yacht model.
the modeling of garage door is made by separating a section of garage space and then using the solid leftover using trim cut, fillet etc.,
Below is the final CAD image of the garage door:
Final rendering looks like:
Propeller
The propeller is the main part that drives the yacht on the water. A propeller comprises a hub with blades connected to it at an angle.
The modeling of propeller made by using features like extrude fillet, cut, lofted boss etc.,
Below is the final CAD image of the Propeller:
Final rendering looks like
Radar
A radar is rotating structure mounted on the radar mast which helps in tracking the location of the yacht
A radar modelled using standard features like extrude, fillet, cut etc.,

Seats
The seats fitted on the yacht for the comfort and three seats are present on the yacht,
Front , middle and rear seat.
The seats modelled using standard and advanced features like extrude, cut, fillet, chamfer, dome, and rear seat is modelled using composite curves.
The final CAD images of the seats are below:
Final renderings looks like:
Superstructure
A super structure a main part of a yacht; It comprises controllers and all the other equipment.
The modelling of the superstructure is the most complex part, it is modelled by surfaces using composite curves, various features are also used along with it like swept boss, filled surface, trim, knit, etc.,

Radar Mast
The radar mast houses the Radar and other components required in sailing a Yacht.
The modelling of radar mast is done by using standard features of extrude , cut, fillet and composite curves are used for swept boss etc,
The final CAD image of the Radar mast is below:
The final rendering looks like:
Final Assembly of Yacht
We assemble the yacht model using standard features like, coincident, concentric, parallel, width etc.,
