Wire Bending
OBJECTIVE:-
- To perform an analysis to simulate the bending of a wire using 3 different types of materials for the wire.
PROCEDURE:-
Geometry:
Contacts:
Frictional Co-efficient of 0.2 was assigned to the contacts with the formulation as Augmented Lagrange, Normal Stiffness as factor of 0.1 where Stiffness was updated per Iteration.
Cylindrical revolute joint was created on both the wheels with respective to the ground.
Mesh:-
Boundary Conditions:-
The simulation is made to run for 8 steps.
A Joint Load was assigned as shown.
Two Fixed support was assigned as well.
RESULTS:-
CASE 1:- USING COPPER ALLOY NL
Equivalence Stress (on the wire):-
Minimum: 2.0843e-4 MPa ; Maximum: 658.87 MPa
Equivalence Elastic Strain (on the wire):-
Minimum: 2.127e-9 ; Maximum: 6.0315e-3
CASE 2:- USING ALUMINIUM ALLOY NL
Equivalence Stress (on the wire):-
Minimum: 1.8778e-5 MPa ; Maximum: 455.01 MPa
Equivalence Elastic Strain (on the wire):-
Minimum: 3.1633e-10 ; Maximum: 6.4617e-3
CASE 3:- USING MAGNESIUM ALLOY NL
Equivalence Stress (on the wire):-
Minimum: 1.3605e-4 MPa ; Maximum: 402.21 MPa
Equivalence Elastic Strain (on the wire):-
Minimum: 6.1991e-9 ; Maximum: 9.1489e-3
CONCLUSIONS:-
- Wire with material Copper Alloy NL has the maximum Equivalence Stress with the valuse of 658.87 MPa.
- Wire with material Magnesium Alloy NL has the minimum Equivalence Strain with the value of 9.1489e-3.
