WIRE BENDING OPERATION
AIM
TO Perform an analysis to simulate the bending of a wire using 3 different types of materials for the wire.
PROCEDURE
- Open ansys workbench .
- Update the material module as COPPER ALLOY (Nl).
- Geomtery - import-WIRE BENDING MATERIAL
- Model-edit
- Rename the model.
- Assign copper only to the WIRE (FRICTIONAL)
- Then create a contact between the wheels and WIRE (FRICTIONAL).
- Then create a contact between the WIRE and LEVER (FRICTIONAL).
- The normal stiffness factor = 0.1.
- Stiffness should be assigned to each iteration.
- Then Add offset ramped effects.
- Then create joints between The moDELS
- FIXED JOINT to WHEEL AND WIRE.
- REVOLUTE JOINT to LEVER.
- Then adjust the mesh type as tetrahedron .
- Element size on wire and lever 2.2mm
- THen define it has sphere of influence.
- Sphere radious of 7mm adn mesh size of 0.8mm
- Then upadte the analysis settings.

STRESS(COPPER ALLOY)
MAX = 334.6 MPA
MIN =0.0041 MPA
STRAIN(COPPER ALLOY)

CONCLUSION
- From above calculation
EQUIVALANT STRESS = COPPER ALLOY (MORE)
MAGNESIUM ALLOY (LESS)
EQUIVALANT STRAIN= COPPER ALLOY (LESS)
MAGNESIUM ALLOY (MORE)
- From the above analysis it is evident that MAGNESIUM ALLOY material posses less equivalant stress.
- It is evident that MAGNESIUM ALLOY POSSES HIGH EQUIVALANT SRAIN .
Since the copper experiences more stress ,it provides more resisitance to the bedning and hence it cannot be taken into account as favourable.
By far MAGNESIUM ALLOY undergoes much of deformation ,
Hence MAGNESIUM ALLOY is taken as the most prefarable material.
