VERIFY THE JOINTS FOR DIFFERENT MATERIALS
VERIFICATION OF WELD JOINT
The objective is to verify the joints for different materials (Stainless Steel, Aluminium Alloy & Bronze).
First import the given model in the ANSYS Workbench. Image of model is given below:
- Properties of Materials are given below:
- Connections details are given below with the images:
Plate to Rib: Frictional (0.2)
Plate to Plate: Frictional (0.2)
Welds to Rib and Plates: Bonded
- Details of Meshing are given below:
- Now come to analysis setting, the details of settings are given below:
- Detail of Fixed Support given below:
- Detail of Given Force given below:
- Image of Directional Deformation:
- Image of Total Deformation:
- Image of Equivalent Elastic Strain:
- Image of Equivalent Elastic Stress:
- Image of Equivalent Stress On Weld Joints:
Results:
Directional Deformation:
Name Time(s) Minimum(mm) Maximum(mm) Average(mm)
Case_1 1 -9.304e-002 9.3041e-002 -5.4652e-005
Case_2 1 -9.2496e-002 9.2447e-002 -5.0455e-005
Case_3 1 -2.5596e-002 0.3868 3.3284e-002
Equivalent Elastic Strain:
Name Time(s) Minimum(mm/mm) Maximum(mm/mm) Average(mm/mm)
Case_1 1 8.4783e-007 1.8677e-003 1.3612e-004
Case_2 1 8.4005e-007 3.403e-003 1.9337e-004
Case_3 1 9.0158e-007 3.2877e-003 1.9047e-004
Equivalent Stress On Weld Joint:
Name Time(s) Minimum(MPa) Maximum(MPa) Average(MPa)
Case_1 1 1.2531 304.11 39.407
Case_2 1 1.341 250.93 32.707
Case_3 1 1.3895 262.65 32.722
Conclusion:
According to me deformation completely depends on material. So material is the main factor, In this case the highest equivalent stress developed on Structural Steel material.
