To create different 1D elements on the given component for given DOF and for the given cross section in hypermesh
Objective: To create different 1D elements and on the given component for given DOF and for the given cross section in hypermesh.
We have to create the 1D elements at these repective locations.
procedure:
Step 1) First the file with extension as .IGS is opened in hypermesh using import geometry menu.
Step 2) After the geometry is imported we deleted the all the solids present using delete command.
Step 3) Midsurface Extraction : - After deleting all the solids, mid surface nedd to be extracted . - Mid surface is extracted using auto mid surfacing command. - Seprate two midsurfaces are created for each bracket i.e bracket 1 and bracket 2
Step 4) Material and Property :
- Steel material is created and also seprate two properties as property 1 and property 2 are created. - Then All the parameters including thickness values are assign. and also assign the same material and properties to components.
Step 5) Meshing : meshing of the midsurface is carried out by going into the 2D option and using automesh option and assigning particular target element size.
Step 6) Creating 1D elements:
- 1D elements such as RBE2, RBE 3, spring, bar , rod and beam are created from 1D menu.
Fig : 1D elements RBE2, RBE3,spring.
Fig: 1D elements bar, rod and beam. - All the 1D elements as per requirement of DOF are created at the respective points.
- First the Rod element with RBE 2 element and only translational DOF i.e only dof1,dof2, dof3 is selected.
- After that beam element with RBE 3 element and all the DOFs is created.
- And the bar element with RBE3 element and only x and y DOFs is created.
Step 7) Assigning Cross sections:
- First select 1D menu and after that click on the Hyperbeam and select the standard section and section type we want. - - Using hyperbeam we can create the different cross sectons for the beam, bar and rod and assign different dimensions as per the requirements.
Step 8) Creating seperate properties:
- All the created 1D elements are in one property i.e bracket 1 so we have to create seprate properties for each Rod, Beam, Bar etc.
- By assigning the beam sections to each created properties and after that by updating the all elements for assigning those seperate properties we can assign the cross sections.
- By clickin on 1D detail element representation we can see the cross sections of all the elements.
Step 9) Applying Mass:
- To apply the mass , first go to 1D and after that click on masses.
- Select the nodes where we want to apply the mass and enter the value and assign the property to it and element type as cmass1.
Step 10) Creating spring elements :
- Form 1D menu click on the springs and after that Selecting the nodes and element type as per requirement we have created the spring elements.
Result and conclusion:
1) All the 1D elements with required cross section and required DOFs are created.
2) 1D elements are used to represent long shaft, beams, connection elements, gap elements to specify a gap between two pieces of geometry.
3)Spring elements are used to apply a specific spring constant at a specified node or set of nodes.
4)Rigid elements are used to define a rigid connection to or in a model.
