Project

Tera meshing of rear view mirror.

Name of the challenge:Tera meshing of rear view mirror.

Objectives:To perform a tera mesh for the rear view mirror under given quality criteria without kinks and dips on surfaces.

Methodology:

  • Geometry cleanup.
  • Asssigning relevent PID.
  • Meshing as per given criteria.
  • Creating volumetric mesh.

Geometry cleanup.

  1. Import the Rearview Mirror.igs file.
  2. Set the perimeter>length and Macros to 1mm under Mesh module.
  3. Give Topo for the entire component and check visually for any abnormal faces.
  4. Check the geometry for errors with Check Manager and correct the error like Triple cons, Cracked faces, Single cons.
  5. Auto-fix the geometry.

Asssigning relevent PID.

Define the PIDs to all important regions.

Meshing as per given criteria.

Assign the Mesh Parameters.

Set the quality for Shell and Solids as following given Quality Criteria.

Mesh the entire geometry with tria elements. Choose tria and ortho Tria options Wherever possibly, for proper mesh flow.

Rectify the errors fromed by elements in Shadow view by Shell mesh> Reconstruct, Grids>MV free command. Release the mesh.

Creating volumetric mesh.

  1. Under Volume Mesh Module Define each and every parts seperately.
  2. Volumes>list Shows unmeshed parts. Right Click on it and perform remesh>Tetra Rapid or Terta FEM.
  3. Continue this operation for all the parts of rearview mirror.

Check for Kinks and raise on the Surfaces and rectify them using MV free command.

Conclusion:

  • The geometry is cleaned.
  • Assigned Properties and Meshed seperately using tria and ortho tria elements.
  • Defined volumes and performed Tetra rapid mesh under given quality criteria.
