Solution
-Component No 1 Hand rest
- First after opening model we see that there are single cons on the surface. In order to check the topological errors on the surface need to geometry check.
-Clearing the topological errors by deleting the unwanted surfaces. And using TOPO option in FACES to paste the cons. Even after operating TOPO options there are still some red cons. This is because there is a surface missing.
-Creating a new surface with new in faces option.
- And still there are few unchecked faces and some topo errors.
-We can use the option of Hot points>> clear geometry in order to clear all the topological errors.
- Again we do a geometric checks there are no errors.
- Now to extract the mid surface we can use the faces>>offset option and offset all the surfaces.
- Similarly there are other options for taking the mid surface with Faces>>Middle>>Single/Multi.
- Also we use options such as Faces>>Extend or Faces>>Paste/TOPO in order to patch the extracted mid surface.
- while extracting the mid surface set the PID for the particular mid surface and also assign the thickness in the thickness box.
-For the component no 2
- we can use above options to clear topological errors.
- For the mid surface extraction we can use Faces>>Mid surf>>skin option in order to take mid of the component.
-After extracting the midsurface we see that some feature are less then minimum length and would fail for minimum length.
- In order to counter this we can use Faces>>Dach option and join micros.
-Thus after using dach we see the midsurface.
Meshing
- First we change the length to target length of 4mm.
- Setting the mesh parameters to 2mm and 6mm as minimum and maximum length.
- Changing the quality criteria to given quality in the challenge.
- Now we use spot mesh to mesh each and every surface.
- Also we use reconstruct to manage the mesh flow and reducing the off elements.
- Now we see there are still a few off elements and the tria percentage is also high.
- We use split and swap and smooth option to reduce the tria concentration.
Conclusion - thus we take a midsurface and using skin for component 2 and manual mid surface extraction for hand rest using off set and middle options in faces.
Assign the thickness and mesh the models with given quality criteria.
In order to capture the features we sacrifice the quality of meshed elements on the surface.
