Project

Static structural analysis on Rolling Operation

OBJECTIVE:

To simulate the rolling operation on the given model of a copper workpiece using Ansys workbench and to find out the,

  1. Equivalent stress for the whole setup
  2. Equivalent Plastic strain for the workpiece
  3. Directional Deformation in the Z axis for the workpiece
  4. Prove that the workpiece has displaced by 90mm.

MODEL USED:

MESHING:

ELEMENT QULITY:

From the below figure, it is clear that all the elements have a quality higher than 55%. The average element quality is about 90%.

MATERIALS USED:

The material used for the workpiece is Copper Alloy NL.

ANALYSIS SETTINGS:

DEFINED DISPLACEMENT:

DEFINED JOINT-ROTATIONS

RESULTS:

  • Equivalent stress for the whole setup.
  • Equivalent Plastic strain for the workpiece.
  • Directional Deformation in the Z axis for the workpiece.
  • Workpiece displacement.

CONCLUSIONS:

  • The static structural analysis on rolling operation using copper alloy (NL) has been completed without any errors.
  • From the results, it is clear that the maximum displacement of the workpiece is 90mm.
  • The mximum equivalent plastic strain in the workpice is 1.8369 mm/mm.
  • The maximum von mises stress developed is 3413.8 MPa.
  • The maximum deformation in z direction for the workpiece is 7.756 mm.
