Simulation Of compound Pendulum
A Compound Pendulum is a colllection of two or more bodies that oscillates about its mean position. Here,it is a dynamic analysis of a compound pendulum with the following configuration.
SETTING UP THE SIMULATION:
STEP 1: SETTING THE UNITS:
Set the units as per the requirements.
STEP 2: GRAVITY SETTINGS:
The Gravity Settings are done as per the simulation requirements. Here,it is set in negative Y direction indicating the gravity acts downward.
STEP 3: SETTING THE INITIAL POINTS -CONFIGURATION BUILDING
The points P0,P1 and P2 are set up through the coordinates w.r.to X,Y and Z axis respectively.
- The Point P0 at (0,0,0)
- The Point P1 at (-10,10,0)
- The Point P2 at (-24.142,-10,0)
STEP 4: BUILDING THE BODY AND ASSOCIATED GRAPHICS:
- Create markers for the points and create bodies 1 and 2 at points 0 and 1.
- Create cylinders cyl 0 and cyl 1 and associate the graphics with the bodies created.
- The Points and Bodies are created
- The creation and property of cylinder 0.Similarly,another cylinder link is created.
- The Configuration of Links for the given Compound Pendulum.
STEP 5: CREATING JOINTS AND APPLYING THE FORCES
The Joints are then created and the necessary force inputs are given to the system.
- The Joint J1 at P0.
- The Joint J0 at P1.
- Rotational force at P2.
STEP 6: OUTPUT DEFINITION:
Now,depending on requirements ,we need to define the ouputs that are required.
There are two outputs required in this simulation:
1.Finding the Trace of P2 when oscilated due to gravity.
2.Determining the reaction forces at the joint P0.
STEP 7: PLOT THE RESULTS:
The results are plotted then:
1.The Trace of P2:
2.The reaction forces of P0:
STEP 8: SIMULATE THE RESULT:
The Final output is simulated.
