Perform midsurfacing of model and mesh the model with the provided quality criteria. Also assign thickness to it by using Hypermesh
Objective: Perform midsurfacing of model and mesh the model with the provided quality criteria. Also assign thickness to it by using Hypermesh
Procedure:
- Import CAD model and perform geometry cleanup if required
- Perform manual mid surfacing of model
- Perform mesh and also cleanup the element errors
- Assign thickness to mesh elements
Import CAD model
- Import CAD model by selecting Optistruct as user profile
- After importing model, do geometry clean up if required like use quick edit tools such as toggle edge, replace point and add point, split
Perform mid surfacing
- The best option of taking mid surface in Floor panel model is by offseting the surface to take auto mid surface of model.
- After taking mid surfacing, there will be geometry cleanup performed such as creation of surface, deleting surface, replacing point, add and remove point , toggle edges
- All these are performed in order to make mid surface perfect for meshing
Perform Mesh and cleanup of elements
- After taking mid surface of model successfully, 2d meshing is done
- In order to perform good meshing we need to use tools such as toggle edge, replace point, add and remove point, split trim intersect, etc are done
- Make sure to give Criteria according to required and perform the mesh accordingly
- After meshing, check quality index to cleanup the elements and make it error free
Assign thickness to mesh elements
- Assign thickness to property and assign that property to mid surface
- Thickness is measured by distance between two points.
Conclusion:
- We learned how to perform mid surfacing of components with thickness
- We learned ho to provide thickness and organize components
