Mesh Cleanup on 2D SHELL Elements

A REPORT ON BASIC FUNDAMENTALS OF HYPERMESH INTERFACE AND 2-D MESHING

After sucessful installing of hypermesh , i watched the videos on basic intrface of it . And learnt the procedure to import the model in various forms such as (soliswork , IGES, STEP,) ,firstly i tried my hand on practise on the practise miodel as provided in the link in discription menu ..There is particular procedure for a model to be processed before going for meshing. In the practise model , first i need to eliminate the lines, which are not playing any role with intersecting edges of model .Also we have to remove the unwanted nodes from the imported body . The key used id delete option on the bottom bars of displaying screen.

The another step is to process the model imported .. Here we have to perform various operation such as there is standard criteria, or defined criteria for the processing , in our example there id need of ignoring the holes of less than 5 mm diameter.also there is predefined functions must be specified for the mesh creation such as .

After edge edit option point edit surface edit and node edit , make sure there is no solid bodies in the model. and all the surface should be closed using various editing options .the main constraints should be followed as ,< all the surface of model should be closed ,to see the open edges switched to Mixed view from Auto view . After switching to mixed option the open ege will be shown by red lines in the graphical window .,We can correct them through toggling the edges by providing specifies tolerance., also those defects can be eliminate by replace node options. After eliminating all those defects and processing the geometry, there is net step called Mid surface extraction . there is a program for auto extraction of mid surface , < go to geometry option- select mid surface - select elements- and click on auto extract button>this command will auto extract the mid surface from the imported geometry.

when the geometry was cleaned up and the mid surfacr extracted , from onwards meshing need to be generate on the mid surface so that we can project those meshed elements on the imported model . and apply the property for the further analysis.Mesh creation is done using <2-d --- automesh option> from this option we can create mesh ,step by step on the surface of model. before creation we need to take in mind that there is some criteria defined by the analyser for mesh creation as discussed above < max/ min length, warpage etc> also one has take into mind that use of quads ia necessary at maximum level , There should be less trias elements. because the tria elements having higher stifness than the quads so it affects the end results. also make sure the mes would not cross the boundaries of the model imported .

After sucessful creations of quads elements as mesh in the mid surface ,We need do check for Quality index parameter . here we will get to know the amount of elements are faling to fulfill the qualioty meshing criteria. we can use the clean up toll for optimizing the elemnts on the mid surface. when we got the quality meshed elements, we can exit the command , now after mesing the last step is to move the meshed elements from mid surface to model .

-< select the meshed element>--< select tye target element>-- by doing this the elements get transferred from mid surface to original model . then simply apply the property to the model. and apply the thiken value so that the elemnts can take the thikness of model.by this procedure i had completed the all the refining and meshing of those three assignment model.
