Machining with Planer using ANSYS Workbench
To Perform an Explicit Dynamics Simulation
Material :- Workpiece = Steel 1006, (Stiffness Behaviour = Flexible)
Cutting Tool = Structural Steel, (Stiffness Behaviour = Rigid)
Meshing :-
Method : Tetrahedron ( for Cutting Tool)
Sizing : To select the 4 edges/corners of workpiece
Type : No. of Divisions = 10
Analysis :- Max. no. of cycle = 1e+07
End Time = 7.5e-004 sec
CASE 1 :- Velocity of Tool = 15000 mm/sec
1. Equivalent Stress :- Max. = 667.78 MPa & Min. = 5.9718 MPa
2. Total Deformation :- Max. = 28.336 & Min. = 0
3. Temperature :- Max. = 325.15 *C & Min. = 19.85 *C
CASE 2 :- Velocity of Tool = 20000 mm/sec
1. Equivalent Stress :- Max. = 649.29 MPa & Min. = 0.50621 MPa
2. Total Deformation :- Max. = 28.9 & Min. = 0
3. Temperature :- Max. = 331.36 *C & Min. = 19.85 *C
Result & Comparision :-
In above table, you can see the comparision between two different veocities of cutting tools:
1. Equivalent Stress : Case 1 > Case 2
2. Total Deformation : Case 2 > Case 1
3. Temperature : Case 2 > Case 1
As we see from the table that, equivalent stress is more for case 1 & less for case 2, ie. as per my result, if we increases the velocity of cutting tool, stress will be decreases.
And also, If we increase the velocity of cutting tool, temperature will increases.
