MESHING HOOD FOR STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS
MESHING HOOD FOR STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS
OBJECTIVE:-
- To get rid of errors on Inner and Outer Panels of the hood.
- To perform a mid-surface extraction of the both.
- To build a Hem related to both panels.
- To mesh the model.
PROCEDURE:-
- The model was opened which was in .stp format which was automatically converted to ANSA readable format while importing.
- Ran a geometry check and corrected all the errors, if any.
- Isolated the inner panel and used the option Mid-Suface to get the mid-surface of the inner panel.
FIG 1:- Mid Surface of Inner Panel
- Corrected all the inner panel\'s errors, if present.
- Assigned a PID to the panel, with a thickness of 0.75 and also made a MID named Hood_Mild_Steel and assigned the MID to the panel.
- The similar procedure was used in case of Outer Panel.
FIG 2:-Mid Surface of Outer Panel
- Both the panels were shown where we projected the edge of the panels to perform a hemming process.
- After all the edges were projected, the outer regions of the outer and inner panels were deleted.
- The edge of the inner panel were pasted on the projected lines of the inner panel on the outer panel, to create triple cons, which was needed for hemming process.
- The hem area was isolated and was given a seperate PID under the name Hood_Hem.
FIG 3:- Hem Surface
- Later on the Inner panel, Outer panel and the Hem was meshed according to the given parameters:- Length = 5mm
FIG 4:- Required Parameters needed for meshing.
RESULT:-
FIG 5:- Meshed model as a result.
LEARNING OUTCOME:-
- Learnt to perform a mid-surface extraction of a model.
- Learnt the procedure of creating hems.
CONCLUSIONS:-
- Got rid of the topo errors of the entire model.
- Successfully created a hem.
- Surface Mesh was performed without any errors.
