Project

Create different types of 1D elements in the given model

Objectives;

Creat 1D elements on the following component with given cross-section and DOF

a. Rod element:- with only translational DOF and RBE2 link

Cross-Section: BOX- Dimension a= 12 mm

dimension b=10 mm

Thickness t= 0.75 mm

b. Beam element:- with all DOF and RBE3 link

Cross-Section: I Section- Dimension a= 8 mm

Dimension b= 10 mm

Dimension c= 8.5 mm

Thickness t1= 0.75 mm

Thickness t2= .6 mm

Thickness t3= .6 mm

c. Bar element:- with only x and y DOFs With RBE3 link

Cross-section: CROSS section- Dimension DIM1= 5 mm

Thickness DIM2= 1.2 mm

Dimension DIM3= 10 mm

Thickness DIM4= 1.2mm

d. & e. apply the mass of magnitude 10 with RBE2 link

f. Join the two components with Spring elements ,

Procedure;

1. A new file open the hypermesh and import the geometry (Parallel Bracket).

2. Then delete the entire solid in the component. And midsurface command used to extract the midsuface that component. Organize command used to separate that component Eg; Bracket 1 and Bracket 2.

3. And assign material on that component with assign the card image, youngs modulus, Poission's Ratio, and density of that component.

4. And assign the two properties on that component, because two diff thickness gives that component, so assign the two properties.Eg; In barcket 1 property card image is PSHELL and thick is 2. Then Bracket 2 property card image is PSHELL and thick is 2.5.

5. Then washer split was used that pinholes in approximate dimension.And create a 2D mesh on entire components.

6. After that, looking to rigids element, Rigid element is basically RBE2 element which have infinite stiffness because its never bend, never Rotate, and never move on the paricullar node. But RBE3 element it can be move, rotateand bend and its load destripution is diff than RBE2 element.

7. Then click the rigid command to create the RBE2 iD element on that Bracket 1 component (a) pinhole by shown in figure. Its same to create RBE3 element in pinhole (b) and (c).

8. Beam element with all DOF in RBE3 link, choose the hyperbeam command in standard section let create a solid circle then click on create it.

9. Then circlular section is created. Then rename it bar and give the radius with create a solid rectangle for bar then create a I section beam to give the properties and material assign the given dimensions.

10. Create a rod element RBE2 link and Beam and bar element in RBE3 link with to give properties and materials.

11. Apply the mass of magnitude 10 with RBE2 link in (d) and (e). Its same to create a spring elements for join the two components.

Results and Conclusion;

The simplest element is a line made of two nodes. All line elements, whether straight or curved, are called 1D element in which they have translational and rotational displacement functions.

Created different types of 1D elements in the given model, and able to get a knowledge and method to use diff 1D element in hypermesh.
