AIM: the meshing of a cylinder using pre-processing software ANSA.
- Let's import the cylinder in ANSA BY opening the file.
- selecting the PID mode for the better interface of the model.
- The edges are already colored by default (with double coons -yellow lines). if it's not appearing than check the first option in the quality criteria parameter.
- Doing geometry check & executing before proceeding further. checking all the options as shown in the photo.
- enable the crosshatches for better selection criteria. After enabling crosshatch you can select surfaces as per requirement.
- there are no topological errors here. there is no cleaning required in this geometry
- middle click the mouse button and make a new property name it "shell" and apply it.
- after applying color will be changed of property.
- Applying properties to all faces as shown in below figure.
- the ending geometry after applying properties to faces will look like this.
- go to mesh option and select length option in the perimeter section.
- select the perimeter option and select whole geometry with window selection left click.(you can select it with cross hatches as well).
- after selection press mouse middle-click (work as an enter key). and enter length 1( given element size is 1) in length parameter.
- click ok and nodes will spread over the surface.
- we can measure the distance between two points which is approximately 1 unit.
- for meshing go to the spot mesh under mesh generation, select element type as tria and enable reconstruct option. select the whole geometry with left click window selection.
- Click the middle mouse button and the final result will be generated.
- performing surface mesh checks as a final step and there are no errors found.
- Hence the above mesh is generated with element size 1.
- here is the google link for the meshed cylinder 3d file.
