AIM: mid surface extraction of the car dashboard and meshing under given quality criteria.
AIM: mid surface extraction of the car dashboard and meshing under given quality criteria.
Methodology
We can divide this project into three parts.
- Geometry cleanup
- Mid surface extraction
- Meshing under given quality critriea
- Geometry cleaning
- Mid surface extraction
- The mid surface of a given model depends on thickness. the main body thickness is 0.6mm other structure and body rib thickness are varying.
- Use offset method to pull out mid from the model as thickness is not varying for the particular part.
- Mid surface of the model will look like below.
- Meshing
- The quality criteria for the model is given below.

- Use mixed mesh for the model and assign a relevant PID as per thickness
- Use swap, split, paste, reconstruction command to solve off elements.
- assign a thickness after completion of the mesh.
- Learning outcome:
- Midsurface extraction and meshing under given quality criteria.
