3D meshing and engine file edit
ENGINE FILE EDITING AND 3D MESHING
1.Speed of sound in steel Rail:
speed of sound =√E/R
where , E=2.10E5 g (mm)^-1 (ms)^-2;
R=7.8E-3 g/(mm)^-3;
=5188.75 mm/ms
note that above values are taken from input file.
2.Time taken for a shock wave to travel from one end to another:
speed of sound in rail=5188.75 mm/ms;
length of steel rail=1000 mm;
Time Taken=length/speed
=1000/5188.75
=0.1927 m/s
3.Time for sound to travel length of rail=0.1927 m/s
4. Editing the engine file :
Edited the engine file so that we can moniter the stress wave which moves from one end to another.
go to cards , edit the file to 60.000000000000 to 0.1927
5.Setting the frequency of animation output to a time that will give 20 animation steps(/ANIM/DT),
in order to get 20 animation steps , just divided 0.1927 by 20 which i got 0.009635 ms and changed in the /ANIM/DT
6. Changed the print into 10
The edited file is:
After the running of Engine file it has generated these multiple files.
7.3D meshing:
3d tetra mesh:
- 2d mesh on the hub.
- First performed the 2d mesh on the hub 2d=>automesh=>trais only=> mesh mesh size is 5mm
- Next performed 3d mesh on the hub 3d=>tetramesh=>mesh(first select the parameters , always set minimum tetra size 3mm and Tet collapse 0.15
- Next quality check , tool=>check element=>3d and tet collapse=>0.15
- quick tetra mesh on cover. 3d=>tertramesh=>volume tetra=>surface=>element size is 5mm=>mesh
HEX mesh;
Step 1: Base
- first performed the 2d mesh on the surface with element size is 10mm and ensured that the mesh style is quad.
- Then element offset , here in order to reduce the time i have used this step,3d=>element offset=>(first select the element whatever you created)click the element and surface and meshed it.
- Step2:Arm curve
- hide the element and mask the component so that we can select the base of the arm curve.
- i have used spin option to create the mesh on arm curve.(first win+F4 => three node=>(drag the mouse on any one surface so that you can create the centre node)N1,N2,N3
- 3d=>spin=>select the surface=>spin by this way i have performed the mesh on arm curve.
- Step:3 Arm face
- Arm face, in order to mesh on the facelinear solid=>comp=>click arm curve=>find face(it will create the face) next perform 2d mesh select the face and mesh it.
- Next allign the face with proper and exact face with 1st element from N1,N2,N3 and 2nd element from N1,N2,N3 and hit solid .
- moved the elements and deleted the faces.
Step:4 Boss - made the boss as the current component.
- And performed the 2d mesh on the surface.
- Next , in order to perform mesh on other surafce, we got create node on another surfacetool=>project=>surface=>node=>duplicate=>(next the surface)=>surface=>select and select the normal ,select node project, thus it will create the node.
- moved the surface and at last deleted the 2d elements.
