In this project, you will be designing and developing an automotive roof with all its components. By doing draft analysis you will check the manufacturability of the part and with that feedback change the model design accordingly. This projects also require you do perform two sets of calculations depending on the region and weather conditions, and finally study the curvature of the roof and its strength with respect to its components.
In this project, you will be designing all BiW components of the automotive roof. The major focus of the overall design will in the engineering behind each feature you make on the components, their positions, and most importantly their manufacturability. This project is one of the engineering design projects where only the knowledge of the CAD tool is not enough. You need to understand the function of each and every component you design. Each and every feature you design should have an engineering reason behind it which helps the overall design of the car whether it is for safety or strength or any other parameter. And understanding that reason and implementation of the same separate an Design Engineer for all the CAD modeling professions. For this project not only you will be focusing on the design of the roof you also have to focus on the overall strength of the roof by performing a few simple calculations. These calculations are on the basis of the region and the weather the condition the car is going to perform. By doing those calculations you will understand the overall curvature of the roof and also the position of the components you have designed are correct or not. From this challenge, you will gain a deeper understanding of how the roof components are designed, how and where the roof will be welded and joined with the side body. and the overall function od the roof and its components.
