This project involves the design parameters of the RUECKWANDTUER tailgate inner panel, hinge, gas-stay, wiper-motor, and latch mountings. A case study about the effects of converting an inner panel from Aluminium casting to steel deep drawing part, on the basis of vicarious tests and analysis on the part.
In this project, you will be designing all major components of the RUECKWANDTUER Tailgate. The major focus of the overall design will in the engineering behind each feature you make on the components, their positions, and most importantly their manufacturability. This project is one of the engineering design projects where only the knowledge of the CAD tool is not enough. you need to understand the function of each and every component you design. Each and every feature you design should have an engineering reason behind it, similarly, you will learn about various components of a tailgate and various design strategies while designing. In this, we discuss a case study about the effects that a change of material brings to the property and manufacturability of the component and how it behaves in various load conditions. After understanding the components and its behavior we focus on the overall assembly of the part and how all the components should be mounted. For example, the relation between the hinges and the latch which indicates the trajectory of the tailgate should be meet and the necessary mountings should be designed keeping that parameter in mind. At the end of this project, your takeaway will be the various design parameters discussed, design methodology used in designing a tailgate, different ways of creating similar features in CAD, and an improved Surface modeling skill.
