Course Overview

Following completion of this course, the learner will have a thorough understanding of implant design guidelines, various surgical procedures, microCT imaging procedures, medical image processing for the development of bone models, and CAD modeling of implants such as surgical plates, femoral stems, acetabulum cups, cannulated screws, and so on. Additionally, he or she will improve their awareness of finite element simulation for testing implant behaviour under physiological conditions.

Week 5 - CAD Modeling of Implants -Part 2

  • CAD modeling of implants for total hip replacement (Hip Arthroplasty)

Week 6 - Simulating the Clinical Procedure for Implant Placements for Fixing the Organs using Finite Element Analysis

  • Importing Hypermesh (.hm) files in Hypermesh 
  • Reading Ansys (.cdb) Files in Ansys Classic
  • Finite element simulations of the following clinical procedures:
    • Fixing femoral shaft fracture using compression plates and Screws
    • Fixing tibial bone screw using surgical plates and screws
