In this project, you will learn how to model a Boeing 747-8 in SOLIDWORKS. Here you will learn part, surface and assembly workbenches of Solidworks from scratch. At the end of this project you will gain hands-on experience in modeling a complex design like that of the Boeing 747-8 and will get an overall idea on how the design software works.
In this project, you will design Boeing 747-8 Aircraft model using Solidworks. You will do the following in this project,
In this project, you will be designing all major components of Boeing 747-8 using various workbenches of Solidworks. You will be learning the software from scratch. You will be dealing with the arrangement of the front, top, and side views of aircraft blueprints with respect to the front, top, and right planes. All the major components will be designed in Part and Surface workbench. The main fuselage body is designed using surface loft command. Part modeling tools are used for the modeling of belly fairing, nose cone, windshield wipers, and pitot tubes. Later, you will be adding doors using a sketch block, hatches, and cockpit escape hatches that are created using the split line tool. You will be creating a vertical and Horizontal stabilizer using lofted Bose/base tool, fillet along with a cut extrude feature in which we will be enabling a thin feature option. Later we will draw the edges on the bottom of the fuselage for representing the landing gear hatches closed and later work on the second configuration as hatches open. You will be also designing the Wheel, Nose Gear Base, Nose Gear Suspension Arm, Main gear base, Main Gear Suspension Arm, and Engine using part modeling tools and will assemble the Main Gear and Nose Gear assembly. At the final stage, you will be doing the main assembly of our Boeing 747-8 using parts and sub-assembly components.

Engineering students who are fresh out of college often struggle to meet the expectations of their employers. More often than not, this stems from a gap between the skills they learned in school and those that are required to make them competitive in the workplace. Skill-Lync, an edtech startup based out of Chennai, aims to bridge this gap.
Chennai-headquartered online learning startup Skill-Lync has launched a Masters course in Electric Vehicle Design and Simulation. The company says the new course is the first such curriculum in India, that focuses on electric vehicles. The fee of the EV course is around Rs 275,000, with the option of a full time or part-time duration. The startup provides job leading courses for Mechanical, Electrical and Civil Engineering students in India and across the world. With colleges shut and students looking to make the most of the time that they are at home the startup has fast-tracked the development of this program and releasing it amid Covid-19.
Skill-Lync started out as a YouTube channel to share engineering tips. Today, it is an online training course that caters to mostly non-software engineering students, which make up around 60 percent of the total engineers that graduate every year.
In an attempt to ensure that there is no hiatus in student education during the ongoing lockdown, Govt of India’s All India Council of Technical Education - NEAT announced partnership with Chennai based Edtech startup Skill-Lync. The global startup Skill-Lync is first-of-its-kind engineering technical education platform that provides job leading courses for Mechanical, Electrical and Civil Engineering students in India and across the world.
