Modelling Boeing 747 Using SolidWorks

In this project, you will learn how to model a Boeing 747-8 in SOLIDWORKS. Here you will learn part, surface and assembly workbenches of Solidworks from scratch. At the end of this project you will gain hands-on experience in modeling a complex design like that of the Boeing 747-8 and will get an overall idea on how the design software works.

Benefits of this Project

In this project, you will learn how to model a Boeing 747-8 in SOLIDWORKS. Here you will learn part, surface and assembly workbenches of Solidworks from scratch. At the end of this project you will gain hands-on experience in modeling a complex design like that of the Boeing 747-8 and will get an overall idea on how the design software works.

What will you do in this project?

Step 1 - Blueprint Arrangement

Step 2 - Modelling Main Body

Step 3 - Modelling Main Wing, Horizontal and Vertical Stabilizer

Step 4 - Main, Nose Gear Design and Assembly

Step 5 - Engine Design and Main Assembly

In this project, you will design Boeing 747-8 Aircraft model using Solidworks. You will do the following in this project,

    • You will be dealing with the arrangement of the front, top, and side views of aircraft blueprints with respect to the front, top, and right planes.
    • Modeling the fuselage main body using surface loft command. Later you will use Part modeling tools to design belly fairing and pitot tubes
    • You will be also working on more details likes passenger window, Nose Cone, Windshield Wiper, etc.over the main body.
    • You will be creating a vertical and Horizontal stabilizer using a lofted Bose/base tool. Landing gear hatches open/close are also done on later stages.
    • Later you will work on Part Modelling and Assembly of Nose Gear and Main Gear along with Engine modeling.
    • At the final stages, you will be adding livery and complete the model by assembling all the parts and sub-assemblies.

    Modelling Boeing 747 Using Solidworks

In this project, you will be designing all major components of Boeing 747-8 using various workbenches of Solidworks. You will be learning the software from scratch. You will be dealing with the arrangement of the front, top, and side views of aircraft blueprints with respect to the front, top, and right planes. All the major components will be designed in Part and Surface workbench. The main fuselage body is designed using surface loft command. Part modeling tools are used for the modeling of belly fairing, nose cone, windshield wipers, and pitot tubes. Later, you will be adding doors using a sketch block, hatches, and cockpit escape hatches that are created using the split line tool. You will be creating a vertical and Horizontal stabilizer using lofted Bose/base tool, fillet along with a cut extrude feature in which we will be enabling a thin feature option. Later we will draw the edges on the bottom of the fuselage for representing the landing gear hatches closed and later work on the second configuration as hatches open. You will be also designing the Wheel, Nose Gear Base, Nose Gear Suspension Arm, Main gear base, Main Gear Suspension Arm, and Engine using part modeling tools and will assemble the Main Gear and Nose Gear assembly. At the final stage, you will be doing the main assembly of our Boeing 747-8 using parts and sub-assembly components.
