Multibody dynamics is an advanced set of tools for designing and optimizing multibody structural mechanics systems using Kinematics of Mechanisms.You will be using a software called Motionsolve/ Motionview from Altair HyperWorks, to simulate the kinematic analysis of various mechanisms. Students who are interested in the field of Kinematics and multibody systems, with a basic knowledge of the theory of machines can take up this course, to enhance their knowledge in the domain of MBD and also apply for Multibody Dynamics Engineer in OEMs.


At the end of this course, you will be familiarised with Motionview/Motionsolve, which is the basis for other Multibody Dynamics software like, ADAMS, SIMULIA, etc.

Also, you will be able to simulate the motion of an entire vehicle and understand the significance of Multibody Dynamics as domain expertise.

  • Construct a four-bar mechanism using the fundamental model-building techniques in MBD

  • Import the BIW structures into GUI

  • Use collision detection to evaluate the mechanism

  • Add torque to drive mechanism and use functions to limit joint motion
