AutoCAD is a very important drafting tool that is widely used across multiple industries. The drafts created using AutoCAD is used by the Manufacturing team to create processes to manufacture the part. Post Manufacturing these drawings are used by the quality team to inspect dimensions and tolerance of the produced part against the drawings to make sure that the sufficient quality is achieved It doesn't stop there. These drawings are used by the Assembly team to check assembly tolerance is up to set standards. In short, AutoCAD is a comprehensive drating tool and when you get started with it, you will learn the following.

- Overview of AutoCAD & drafting principles - The interface of AutoCAD – New file. Save, and open DWG files. - Drafting fundamentals: Line, circle, arc, ellipse, erase, oops

Any product has to be designed and then produced. Design exists in a piece of paper or a file in a computer. However, a manufactured product is real and is quite hard to create. Manufacturability means the ability to Manufacture. A design that cannot be manufactured has no use. AutoCAD provides tools that lets you create designs that are Manufacturable or at least check if they are. The following key concepts are covered to teach you how to implement techniques that make your designs Manufacturable.

6 Quality Assurance

In order to produce quality parts, a set of specifications that are logical, needs to exist. These are called GD&T requirements. In this module, we will first give you an overview of GD&T and teach you different Dimensioning techniques that need to be followed to make designs more readable by the Manufacturing, Assembly and Quality Control teams. We will also teach you additional quality and file management tools such as, Tolerance, Leader, multileader, revcloud, Dimensioning edits


7Collaborate effectively, Broadcast your work work and Productivity Enhancements

Once we have completed the core fundamentals, we will teach you tools that you can use to focus on improving your productivity. The following key tools and techniques are covered to help you with this.

  • External referencing -xref,xbind, AutoCAD design centre, tool pallets, Xplode
  • Plotting, plot styles and publish drawings
  • Layout management, Model space and Paper space, floating viewports

Draw the Screw jack components and the Assembly drawing with the BOM

1) Draw the venturi sub - assembly of the BJ Cicada 
2) Instead of the 3d isometric view, draw the front view of the sub-assembly in the same paper space
3) All dimensions are to be in Dim_1 layer
4) All textual annotations to be in text_1 layer
5) All construction lines and center lines to be line_1 layer
6) Calculate the cross-sectional area of Section A-A of the Venturi body
7) Use the A2 paper sheet layout block created in Assignment 8
8) Export the drawing in pdf format using macro created in Assignment 9
9) Also present the drawing in dwg format.
